About the Artist

Erin Canady received her BFA from UNC Asheville in 2011 with a concentration in painting and her MFA from UNC Chapel Hill in 2016. Erin has exhibited her work in numerous locations throughout North Carolina, including the Ackland Art Museum in Chapel Hill and Carrack Modern Art in Durham. After earning her BFA, she spent two months at Gullkistan Artist Residency in Iceland and was awarded a grant that paid for her travels. She completed her MFA in 2016 from UNC Chapel Hill, where she received a teaching position, a tuition waiver, and stipend. She also won the Top Prize for Outstanding MFA Work, which is given to one exceptional MFA student annually. She currently makes work out of her studio in downtown Durham, shows regularly, and teaches.
