About the Artist

Jason Adams creates large scale spectacles reminiscent of work stations and counter culture housing options.  Often embedded with a participatory notion, the sculptural work invites the public to spend time together inside and around the sculptures, investigating their relationship to the objects, as well as to each other.  Each installation promotes a subtle gesture of community portraiture through writing, making, or sharing that takes place during exhibitions or performances.  Jason’s work intentionally takes an optimistic look at the possibilities for enriching our relationships and experiences.  All Aboard is a grown-up ground level tree fort turned pseudo-science lab that invites the public to consider our mobility, our relationship to travel and wilderness, and the elements that go into fostering a garden of exploration.

Jason Adams received an Associate in Fine Arts from Central Piedmont Community College in 2007, a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of North Carolina at Asheville in 2010, and a Master of Fine Arts from Clemson University in 2013.  Jason is a 2016 recipient of the North Carolina Arts Council Fellowship for the Visual Arts. His work has been shown in Public Art 360 in Asheville, North Carolina, the  Re(happening) in Black Mountain, Weizenblatt Gallery in Mars Hill, Lee Gallery in Clemson, Conrad Wilde Gallery in Tucson and at Root Division in San Francisco.  In 2018 Jason will participate in a group exhibition along with all of the 2016 North Carolina Arts Council Fellowship recipients at the Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington North Carolina.
