Fifteen art students display their work during January
Art Front, UNC Asheville's designated visual arts organization, is hosting its annual Members' Exhibition Closing Reception on Friday, January 30, from 6–8:00 p.m., in the Highsmith Art and Intercultural Gallery. Twenty-one pieces in various mediums by Shanna Blake, Amanda Cloyd, Kristen Easters, Annelise Ferry, Tierney Fritz, Payton James, Kelly Olshan, Jen O’Connell, Chris Phillips, Lyndsey Roberts, Isabel Rolles, Amryn Soldier, Alexandra Slydel, Louise Thompson, and Katie Wersel were selected for the exhibition.
Art Front provides professional development opportunities for its members through bi-annual exhibitions, guest lecturers, and artist events. Art Front strives to connect artists and arts enthusiasts outside the classroom, providing a platform for students to connect with the art community on campus as well as the greater Asheville area. The organization's funding is provided by SAIL (Student Activities, Involvement, and Leadership). In addition to the Annual Members' Exhibition, every Spring Semester Art Front organizes the Annual Juried Student Exhibition in S. Tucker Cooke Gallery in conjunction with the Department of Art and Art History’s scholarships and awards presentations. Entry in the juried exhibition (scheduled April 10–22, 2015) is open to any registered student.
The exhibition and the reception are free and open to the public. The Gallery is located on the first floor (113) of Highsmith University Union; gallery hours are M-F, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; Sun: 12:00–6:00 p.m. For additional information, contact 828-251-6559.
