Artist's Statement: In the exhibition, Reconstruction, photographs depict emotion brought on by a traumatic event that happened in the artist's life. Through photography, the artist is able to reconstruct the past event into an art form that allows her to develop an understanding of what has happened, what will happen, and what is to come. The ability of artistic expression is to alleviate and share the traumatic footprint of adverse life experiences. In addition, the sharing of traumatic experiences through the art form may inversely affect secondary observers by helping them empathize and understand those in pain, suffering, or mourning in what might be seen as an emotional catalyst to the previously unaffected.
